Dr. Anacleto "Nick' Gutiérrez, O.D., M.P.H., has spent over 50+ years providing quality optometry care to patients in the greater Sacramento area.
A graduate of the U.C. Berkeley School of Optometry as a Doctor of Optometry, he holds a masters degree in Public Health from the U.C. Berkeley School of Public Health. His career began at the U.C. Berkeley School of Optometry as an Associate Clinical Professor, and was the first Latino on the faculty in the Optometry department. During this time he helped start 'La Clinica de la Raza' Optometry section at the clinic in Oakland. During Governor Brown’s first term he came to Sacramento as a Statewide Optometric Consultant. Continuing his dedication to serve the community, Dr. Gutiérrez has served on many local, state & national boards. Notably the inaugural Board Chairman for "Health For All" a non-profit local clinic. Additionally, he has served twice as President of the Sacramento Valley Optometric Society. For 35+ years he served as the President for the the nation wide board "Vision One Credit Union" as President, and is a member of various associations including: "California Optometric Association", "Sacramento Valley Optometry Society", and the "American Optometric Association". He is certified by the State Board of Optometry, licensed in Ocular diagnostics, therapeutic, lacrimal duct probing, and glaucoma treatment. Dr. Gutierrez enjoys spending time with his family especially his beautiful grandchildren! Not only does his wife enjoy cooking - but they often cook together! He enjoys getting out and about for community events, watching movies (especially with the grand kids), working on various home projects, getting out and about on local day trips to the surrounding area, he has a life long love of photography, he enjoys live music at concerts, eating the great food California has to offer, restoring historical Victorian buildings, like the one he practices in. A true renaissance man, he does not have the gene to sit idle! He is always creating and moving! Dr. Gutierrez is still practicing purely for the love of his profession and his wonderful patients, so enjoy him! His caring and upstanding demeanor and his likeable personality is top tier! The practice and the people who work with him are a direct reflection of the positive impact he has created within the community. He looks forward to 'seeing' you for many years to come!! |

Dr. Shannon Watkins was born and raised in Northern California and earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of the Pacific. He went on to receive his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry, where he developed a strong clinical foundation in primary eye care and ocular disease. During his clinical rotations, Dr. Watkins trained at the VA Long Beach Healthcare System, VA Sierra Vista Clinic, and Dr. Schermer Eye Associates in Sacramento, CA. These experiences provided extensive exposure to managing complex ocular disease, with a particular emphasis on caring for the veteran population. Dr. Watkins makes it a priority that each patient feels comfortable and heard while in his care. He is passionate about delivering thorough, patient-centered care and is dedicated to improving visual outcomes and overall eye health for every patient he serves.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Watkins enjoys spending quality time with his wife and son. He values maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. He regularly participates in activities such as sports, strength training, and hiking. Dr. Watkins is also passionate about staying engaged in his local community. |

Dr. William Richardson, O.D., originally from Southern California, has been living in Auburn for the past +20 years. He received his education from the University of California Irvine & California State University, Long Beach. He earned his Doctor of optometry Degree from Southern California College of Optometry. Dr. Richardson An active member of his community and is a frequent participant in events such as school vision screenings and community health fairs.
For the past few years we have enjoyed his presence at our practice. His great personality will have you giggling and he truly listens to his patients concerns in order to best identify and treat their ocular conditions. Dr. Richardson has vast experience in helping patients to find relief from the discomfort of chronic ocular surface diseases and always does so with a personal touch and concern. His cheerful disposition certainly helps in caring for our patients and he is quite thorough in explaining all possible therapeutic options for each individual patients. Dr. Richardson enjoys Celtic music, photography, and hiking in the foothills. He is happily married and has three grown children. We feel very fortunate to have Dr. Richardson on our team, his witty and fun personality translates to a great experience with him- he looks forward to 'seeing' you! |
